Janet Yano is an artist living in the San Francisco Bay Area who has exhibited her work at locations such as the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek, the O’Hanlon Center for the Arts and MarinMOCA.  Her studio is in the historic ICB building in Sausalito. Yano has also studied photography at UC Berkeley Extension, and the symmetry, pattern and simplicity of that work is reflected in her watercolor practice.

Janet Yano's work blends a meditative style with a rich and layered reflection on the resilience of her Japanese American ancestors.  She controls the wildly fluid medium of watercolor to create minimal and meditative abstract paintings based on simple yet profound concepts of the Tao Te Ching, such as fluidity, courtesy and patience. Her work offers a respite and invites introspection.
