About the Gallery
Chandler Gallery is a contemporary art space founded in March 2025 by Chandler Simpson. The gallery presents artists across disciplines, uniting celebrated figures and emerging voices to share expansive perspectives.
Since opening, the gallery has been a highlighted participant of San Francisco Art Week and an emerging associate member of the San Francisco Art Dealers Association (SFADA). Simpson also serves as an advisor to Art Works Downtown in San Rafael.
Through October 2026, the gallery will be holding exhibitions at Minnesota Street Project in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood. On November 14th, 2026, Chandler Gallery will open its new, permanent location at 1111 Geary Boulevard, in the historic Goodman Building in the Lower Nob Hill neighbood of San Francisco.
The Goodman Building was constructed around 1860 for French-born merchant Joseph Emeric, and raised in 1906 by architect Conrad A. Meussdorffer to add the storefronts that still line Geary Boulevard today. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated San Francisco Landmark No. 71, recognized not for its architecture but for its long life as an artist community. Through the 1960s and 70s, the building's upper floors were home to an informal collective known as the Goodman Group, whose roughly thirty residents included the poster artist Wes Wilson and the painter and archivist Melanie Mathais, and who briefly counted Janis Joplin among their number. When the city moved to demolish the building, it was the artist Martha Senger who led the community's decade-long fight to save their home, a battle that ultimately secured the building's landmark status even as the artists lost their tenancy in 1983. In the decades since, 1111 Geary, the storefront that will become Chandler Gallery's home, has led its own creative life, most recently as a gallery and bookshop specializing in rare art, architecture, and design books, and before that as a print studio. It is a legacy Chandler Gallery is honored to carry forward, in keeping with all who have given their hands and hours to sustaining the Bay Area's creative life.

We're a small team wearing many hats, so while we may not be able to respond or offer feedback, we genuinely appreciate the time, care, and creativity behind every submission.
